West Bay Beach

Roatán’s sparkling white beaches are ranked among the finest in the Caribbean. No other Caribbean island has the world’s second largest barrier reef this close to shore, making it a world-class destination for divers and snorkelers.

No other Caribbean island has the world’s second largest barrier reef this close to shore, making it a world-class destination for divers and snorkelers. The island’s manageable size and hilly terrain offer plenty of activities to keep non-divers engaged as well. Stroll through botanical gardens and butterfly and iguana farms. Swim with dolphins. Fly through the forest canopy on a zip line. Discover out-of-the-way villages and isolated bays. Fish for marlin and sailfish or cruise the flats for bonefish and permit

With more than 100,000 plants and trees, the Black Pearl Golf Course is one of the largest sanctuaries of plant and animal life on Roatán. The work of foremost golf course designer Pete Dye, Roatán’s Black Pearl is an 18-hole, par-72, 7200-yard championship gem that starts at the shores of the turquoise Caribbean, rises into lush rolling hills and then meanders back to the seaside clubhouse. Along with one of Dye’s signature island greens, fourteen holes offer stunning vistas of the Caribbean Sea and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.

Land Tours

From horseback riding along the beach to eco-tours, there’s no shortage of land-based adventure in Roatán. We can arrange day trips for white-water rafting or trips to a tropical wildlife refuge, where mangroves, monkeys, alligators, birds and other rescued or endangered species give visitors an up-close look at Roatán’s diverse flora and fauna. Hike into the hillside to see panoramic views of the azure Caribbean or maybe do some urban exploring in the quaint and colorful shops in the West End. If your time is limited, take a trip to Maya Key and discover secrets of the Maya without ever leaving the island. Maya Key allows you to explore reconstructions of Copan, including the Hieroglyphic Stairway, the Ball Court, a temple façade and statues. There is also a local art studio and gallery, a traditional Honduran village and interpretive center and a wildlife rehabilitation and release program. Of course, if you’d like to visit the real Copan Ruins, we’re happy to make the arrangements.

The unusually close proximity of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef creates the most easily accessible fishing area in the Caribbean. Simply walk down the beach to the community dock and step aboard a charter. Instead of cruising for hours to the fishing areas, you’re there within minutes. Whether you’re a first-time fisherman or an accomplished angler, you’ll find Roatán fishing some of the most exciting in the world.Deep-sea Fishing starts just a half-mile from shore, where the ocean floor drops off to 1,000 feet, providing the perfect conditions for migrating marlin and sailfish along with yellow fin tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo and shark.

Flats fishing is some of the best in the Caribbean as bonefish, permit and tarpon are not as harried by fishermen here as in other popular fishing destinations.

If you don’t want to journey out on your own, our helpful staff is pleased to set you up with a local fishing charter (half or full day). Whatever best fits into your vacation plans is always fine with us. Fly-fishing can also be arranged.

Surrounded by the world’s second largest barrier reef, Roatán has long been recognized as a world-class scuba diving destination for the beauty of the coral and abundance of tropical fish. Explore more than 40 dive sites as well as the Roatán Marine Park dedicated to preserving the reef and the dive experience. In the waters of neighboring Utila, you’ll find one of the world’s best places to scuba dive with whale sharks. At Grand Roatan we have the best Roatan’s Dive Shop “Island Diving Center” with a complet line of scuba and snorkeling gear along with the newest rental equipment and clasess led by accredited instructors. If you’ve always dreamed of a dolphin encounter, Roatán offers an experience like no other. Voted the Best Excursions in Roatán, you can snorkel, dive or swim with dolphins in an all-natural, sea water enclosure on a private island. You’ll get in waist deep water with the dolphins and a trainer will teach you about their behavior. You can even learn to be a dolphin trainer for a day or go for a dolphin dive.

Zip Lining

Whether you’re a first-time zip liner or a hard-core thrill seeker, Roatán’s zip line tours earn rave reviews. It’s the fastest way to get into the jungle, soar higher than the treetops and see dramatic ocean views. Plus, it is not uncommon for people to see indigenous wildlife while on a zip line experience and this is often the only way to see these creatures in their natural habitat.

With some as high as 328 feet and as long as nearly 2,000 feet – whatever your fitness level or your thrill seeker quotient - we will be able to find the right company for you to use.
