We are ideally situated on the Iron Shore of West Bay Beach, rated one of the best beaches in the entire Caribbean. What Time Is Check-In / Checkout?

Reflecting the island’s laid-back nature, we’re on “Roatán Time” here. We aim for noon, but we understand that circumstances sometimes circumvent the best-laid plans so we won’t be looking at our watch when you’re trying to checkout.

Are Children Welcome?

We believe families of all ages and interests should enjoy quality time together. So please bring your children, young or old.

Is The Grand Roatán An All-Inclusive Resort?

We are not an all-inclusive resort, but we do have many onsite amenities, including pool, dining, beach bar and more.

What Should I Pack?

Roatán has magnificent weather. Pick the clothing that you feel most comfortable in for long periods of time in warm weather. You’re going to be on the beach a lot and occasionally you may need a light piece of clothing for evening wear. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

Do I Need Cash? What About Credit Cards?

Some cash can be helpful and U.S. currency is accepted everywhere. The majority of businesses do accept credit cards, however.

Can I Drink The Water?

Like in any Central or South American country, only drink water that has been assured to be 100% potable or treated. Bottled water is available almost anywhere.

What Is Security Like At The Resort?

We offer security at the resort 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Do The Rooms Have Air Conditioning?

We have a zoned air conditioning system, the most efficient of its kind in Central America.

Do You Offer Laundry Service?

Currently, there is no on-site laundry service.

Does The Resort Offer Internet Access To Guests?

We are pleased to offer complimentary Internet service to all of our guests with Wi-Fi available in all common areas, including the pool.

Do The Villas Have Kitchens?

With the exception of our studios, all of our condominium residences have modern, well-appointed kitchens with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances.

Is There Cable Television?

We have a fantastic cable television system, featuring 50 English-speaking channels and 50 Spanish-speaking channels

Can I Get An Extra Bed In The Unit?

All units with sofas are equipped with pullout sleeper-style sofas.


What Kinds Of Water Activities Are There On The Island?

Roatán is best known for its world-class diving and snorkeling, but you can also parasail, go kayaking in the ocean or the mangroves, go fly fishing or ocean fishing – you name it. The vast majority of water-sports activities can be accessed from West Bay Beach.

Are There Tours Available Through The Resort?

Our attentive and helpful staff is familiar with the best tours available on Roatán and will be pleased to assist you in finding the one that’s right for you.

Are There Activities For Children?

We have a magnificent pool, the best location on West Bay Beach, considered one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean. Kids will marvel at the diversity of sea life right off shore while snorkeling. Other fun things to do in the area include a trip to Maya Key and a dolphin adventure. Roatán is very family-friendly and we’re confident your children will be quite happy here.

Is There A Golf Course?

Roatán is home to an 18-hole, Pete Dye-designed golf course. Most holes play along the ocean or have ocean views. We’d love to tee something up for you.

Do You Have A Pool?

Our stunning pool is about 300 feet across the front and about 200 feet long, wrapping around the entire palapa nestled among towering palms and a few steps from units around the perimeter. The 300-foot shallow skirt at the front edge of the pool can be used for guest lounge chairs. So you can place your chair in the water and have refreshing droplets splash up on your feet.


Do You Have A Restaurant?

The Iron Shore Grill is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with a one-hour closure between breakfast and lunch/dinner service. We feature delicious regional fare and North American favorites.

Do Any Of Your Restaurants Offer A Children’s Menu?

Yes, our menus are designed to appeal to children and adults.

Can You Accommodate Special Dietary Requests (Such As Allergies)?

We want to offer our guests a worry-free stay and encourage everyone to discuss special dietary needs with our Iron Shore Grill staff.

Do You Have Live Entertainment?

We feature live entertainment on selected weekends.

What Is The Dress Code For The Restaurants At Night?

There is no dress code at Grand Roatán. We want you to be comfortable and relaxed during your stay with us.

Are There Airport Taxes On Roatán?

Yes, there is a departure tax of approximately $40 USD.

What Are The Best Choices For Airlines For Getting To Roatán?

It’s easy to get here. There are weekly direct flights to the island from New York, Miami, Houston and Atlanta and many major cities connect to Roatán with just one stop. Look for United, American, Delta and TACA Airlines as well as Sunwing Vacations charter service. Plus, you have the option of multiple flights from the Honduran mainland as well.

Does The Hotel Provide Transportation?

We will meet you at the airport and take your directly to the resort. Also, we provide return transportation.

Do I Need A Passport Or Visa To Travel To Roatán?

Like any international travel, you will need a passport to travel to Roatán

What Is The Weather Like On Roatán?

The weather is gorgeous on Roatán with am ambient water temperature into the high 80s most of the year and even a balmy mid-70s in the “winter.” The wintertime can be rainy, but we are on a very small island and clouds pass very quickly.

When Is The Best Time To Visit?

An easy answer is when it’s best for you. Naturally, holidays are peak times. There are frequent local holidays and celebrations you may want to plan to attend. Once you have a time of year worked out with your family, call us and we’d be happy to discuss details.

USD are accepted everywhere. But you should expect your change to be in local currency – Lempiras.

What Is The Lempira Exchange Rate?

A typical exchange rate is 25 Lempiras to 1 USD.

Can I Buy Groceries On The Island?

There are great places to buy local produce and various Central American products. You’ll also find some familiar brands, but they may be priced higher here due to the cost of international shipping.

How Do People Dress On The Island?

Roatán’s dress code is dictated by the weather. We suggest you wear whatever you find comfortable and cool.

Is There Nightlife And Shopping On The Island?

We are in West Bay, the heart of the Roatán’s nightlife scene. From live music to dance clubs, you’ll be able to find something that you like. Please speak with our staff, however, to find the most appropriate place to go.

Are There Medical Facilities On Roatán?

Coxen Hole has the main hospital for the island, but there are also several clinics for emergencies. Serious injuries or severe conditions are typically referred to the mainland.
